Open day for the 75th anniversary of the Hennef Sports School
August 23, 2025, 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Sövener Straße 60, 53773 Hennef
75 years ago, the Hennef Sports School opened its doors to its first guests in its original form. To mark this anniversary, an open day will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025 from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on the grounds of the Hennef Sports School. In addition to a look at the various rooms and sports facilities, an attractive supporting and hands-on program will be offered. In the morning, there will also be a ceremony at which guests from politics, sport and business are expected. Guests of honor include DFB President Bernd Neuendorf, District Administrator Sebastian Schuster and Mayor Mario Dahm.
Hennef Sports School celebrates its birthday with an open day
“The open day is primarily intended for the citizens of our region,” explains sports school director Sascha Hendrich-Bächer. “Many people don’t realize that the sports school can do more than just sports. In addition to top athletes and amateur sportsmen and women, numerous guests also come to the sports school for overnight stays, conferences or company, birthday and wedding celebrations. We are delighted to be able to show all interested parties just how diverse the sports school is.”
Visitors can look forward to a varied program on the open day: In addition to guided tours of the grounds with a visit to the sports facilities and special halls, the conference rooms, rooms and technical facilities, guests can also get active themselves. Numerous sports such as table tennis, tennis, handball, boxing, archery, triathlon and golf are waiting to be tried out – offered by Hennef clubs and institutions. The Mittelrhein Football Association (FVM) also offers an active soccer program. In the in-house outdoor pool, water fun is guaranteed for everyone with various swimming badges, aqua fitness and water games. And taking part in the active activities is doubly worthwhile – there are attractive prizes to be won.
“We hope that our program will make you want to get active yourself. Visitors should definitely bring their swimsuits and sneakers and just join in,” says Hendrich-Bächer. “Visitors can also look forward to a special non-sporting highlight with the first appearance of our official sports school mascot – but we won’t reveal any more at this point!”
Admission is free.
