For more than six decades, Sportschule Hennef has been a home for top and leisure athletes from all disciplines, as well as for conference guests. How it all began, which guests we could already welcome and how the Sportschule developed – all this can be found in the history listed below:

2006
Completion of renovation measures (reception building, extension and renovation of the dining rooms and the basement; cost volume: 6.8 m EUR), as well as inauguration of the new building “Haus Schleiden”

2005
The Argentinian national team of Juan Román Riquelme were guests at the FVM’s sports school for one week during the Confederation Cup.

Construction of an artificial lawn pitch

2003
Comprehensive renovation of the indoor swimming pool

2000
Inauguration of the gym complex (multi-purpose gyms, sports-specific gyms for boxing, wrestling and judo, wellness area, seminar rooms)

1995
Berti Vogts prepares the national team in Hennef for the European championship game against Moldavia - Germany wins 6:1.

1994
Laying of the foundation block for the new gym complex

1993/94
The annex building is “topped up” with rooms of the "Komfort" category.

1989
Franz Beckenbauer prepares his team for the decisive World Championship qualification game. The team around team captain Lothar Matthäus follows the fall of the Berlin wall on the screens at Sportschule, and a few days later beats Wales 2:1 at Müngersdorfer Stadion. The road to the third world championship title has thus been paved.

Renovation of the accommodation in the main building.

Annex building (offices, seminar rooms, bowling alley, etc.)

Construction of the “bed house” where the rooms of the "Klassik" category are today.

Start of the swimming pool construction (opening: 1968)

1962
UEFA conference with Sepp Herberger, Helmut Schön, Dettmar Cramer and FIFA president Sir Stanley Rous.

Start of the gym construction that was equipped with artificial lawn in 1965

1954
Sepp Herberger and his world champions prepare on the Sieg for their first international match after their success at the world championship of Bern – and lose 0:2 against Sweden.

1950
The federal day of DFB is held at Sportschule Hennef.

1947
Construction of Sportschule Hennef was initiated in 1947. Laying of the foundation block on 1 October 1949.
After nearly two years of work, Sportschule Hennef is ready for occupancy in the summer of 1950.
